High School Experience
I liked getting the opportunity to meet new people and try new things because I got to make some great friends and really enjoyed the extracurriculars I did. I didn’t like how much standardized testing there was.
I really enjoyed STEM subjects (some of my favorite classes were physics and math). My school offered APs and I did well on the exams.
4.00 unweighted, 4.96 weighted
I took the SAT physics and math 2 subject tests because it was required for one of my college applications. I did well on the subject tests.
I’d say my main extracurriculars were lacrosse, Model UN, and volunteering. I volunteered all 4 years of high school but I didn’t volunteer at the same place the whole time. I participated in lacrosse for 5 years and Model UN for 3 years (because you could only join as a sophomore or older at my high school), and I held leadership positions for both.
I personally loved the teachers that wrote me recommendations, and I think they liked me back. I have a pretty good relationship with my counselor as well. However, I’m not exactly sure how great my recommendations were considering I asked for them relatively late.
I think most of my essays were just about my experiences with my extracurricular activities but that’s just because I am not super into creative writing.
I'm not really sure, I tried out the opportunities offered at my high school (like AP classes, clubs, etc.) and focused on the ones I liked.
My advice would be to try out different classes and activities and challenge yourself in the ones that you genuinely enjoy, but always make sure you are taking care of your mental health first.
